Precondition every time

  • Schedule departure so the cabin and battery warm while plugged in.
  • Use seat heaters over high cabin heat when possible.
  • Keep your charge limit slightly higher for winter commutes.

Tires and traction

  • Check tire pressure weekly—cold air reduces PSI.
  • Consider winter tires if temperatures stay below 45°F (7°C).
  • Keep a small brush and scraper in the trunk.

Charging in cold weather

Battery preconditioning improves Supercharging speeds. Navigate to the charger in the Tesla app or in-car navigation to warm the pack before arrival.
